Carroll women third, men fifth at Comet Invitational

DETROIT LAKES, Minn. - The Carroll College golf teams wrapped up play at their first tournament of the 2026-27 season on Tuesday, with the women finishing third and the men fifth at the Comet Invitational at Wildflower Golf Course.

While the Carroll women were unable to advance their position in the final round, the Carroll men moved up one spot to finish in fifth place at the first Frontier Conference tournament of the year.

The women finished the week in third place at +90, bettering their team score from day one by six strokes in Tuesday's final round. The Saints finished four shots clear of Montana Tech, while Bellevue took second at +65 and defending Frontier champion Rocky took the team title at +39.

Alli Stastny (Murtaugh, Idaho / JR) was the low woman for the Saints on the week, shooting a final round 81 to finish sixth in the individual competition (78-81, 159). She was joined in the top 10 by her twin sister Ellie Stastny (Murtaugh, Idaho / JR), who matched her with an identical final round 81 to finish the week at 163 (82-81).

Jordan Nielsen (Billings, Mont. / FR) secured a 16th-place finish in her first collegiate tournament, posting rounds of 84-85, while Addison Slivinski (Montpelier, Idaho / SO) bounced back from an opening-round 92, firing 83 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 20th to round out the Carroll scoring.

Rocky's Natasza Klimko took individual medalist honors on the women's side, finishing at event par for the event.

The Carroll men compiled their best round of the week on Tuesday, climbing above host school Mayville State for a fifth-place finish at +72. Rocky won the men's competition as the lone school to finish under par for the week at -18.

TJ Fierling (North Bend, Wash. / SR) fired a final round one-over-par round of 73, leading the Carroll men on the week with a T-16 finish (73-83-73). Kyle Kennah (Laurel, Mont. / JR) matched Fierling's final round score of 73, pouring in four birdies throughout the day to secure a top-20 finish as well (79-80-73).

All four Carroll scorers posted sub-80 rounds on Tuesday, as both Hudson Reinke (Filer, Idaho / JR) and JT Slivinski (Montpelier, Idaho / SR) posted final round 79s. Reinke finished tied for 25th (79-78-79), while Slivinski rounded out the Carroll scoring in a tie for 32nd (85-79-79).

Bellevue's Hayden Delaloye took home medalist honors in the men's competition, finishing the week with three rounds under par at -10 total.

Carroll will now turn their attention toward their first home event in two years, as they host the Frontier at Bill Roberts Golf Course for the Carroll College Classic on October 5-6.
