Carroll cross country shines at Yellowjackets/Battlin' Bears Open
Billings, Mont. – Carroll College cross country competed on Friday morning at the Yellowjackets/Battlin' Bears Open.
Although the Saints rested the group who raced last weekend at the competitive Charles Bowles Invite, the women still placed top of NAIA schools and third overall. They beat NCAA Division II MSU-Billings, who they lost to two weeks ago in Butte. Mya Badger came in first for the Saints, followed by Ruthanne Arthun, Ellie Baxter, Ella Menard and Nina Badger.
The Saints set a slew of personal records despite unseasonably warm conditions. For the men, Anderson, Boyd and Boroff ran their fastest 8Ks ever. On the women's side, Mya Badger, Menard, Baxter, Arthun and Horspool all ran lifetime-best 6Ks.
"This group made solid improvements compared to their last race," said head coach Shannon Flynn. "They brought great energy and execution, and it showed in both the team and individual performances."
Carroll will train for the next two weeks before competing at the prestigious Great Lakes Challenge in Grand Rapids, Mich.
