Family: Parents Joe and Judy Jurenka; brother David Jurenka;
sisters Darcie Jo Jurenka, Julianne and her husband Dave Hill, and
their three children, Nicholas, Lainee Jo and Nate.
What’s been your career path since you started working? At the
age of 19, I built my first house; at the age of 24, I entered the
Helena Parade of Homes and won the “People’s Choice Award.” Since
then Jurenka Custom Homes has grown from four employees to
currently 12 employees. We currently build 15-20 houses a year and
feature two houses each year on the Parade of Homes.
Community service: We donate to many charities such as the
Festival of Trees, MOMS Club, HBIA, Helena College of Technology,
Lost and Foundation, Race for the Cure, youth sports teams, Brewers
and Carroll College.
Hobbies: Hunting, fishing, hiking, golf, boating, basketball,
football and travel.
Education: Helena College of Technology associate’s degree in
construction technology.
What do you enjoy about your work? The look on the homeowner’s
face when their new home is presented to them and it is everything
they wanted and more.
What do you like best about Helena? The fact that Helena is a
small-town community where deals are still done on a handshake and
good faith.
Something that would make Helena a better place to live and
work: More overall support for the growth in our community.
What do you do to beat stress? I enjoy being outdoors. When I
feel stressed I always retreat to the outdoors.
What are the biggest challenges facing our community? Controlled
growth of our community.
The two most influential people in your lifetime and why: My
mother and father. I was raised on a farm southeast of Big Sandy
and was taught the work ethics of life. They are the reason why I
have been able to be successful. I would never want to let them
down.
One word to describe yourself: Compassionate.
Book you’ve read that had a positive influence on you: “E-Myth
Revised,” “Twelve Pillars” and “Hard Optimism.”
If you weren’t in your current job, you would be: I would be a
hunting guide or selling real estate.
