Chris Rehor loves serving people great food. After thirty years of managing popular restaurants, Rehor took the leap and became his own boss, applying his vast experience to co-owning and managing the Montana City Grill with partner Dave Hunter. "It was time to put all my knowledge into running my own business," Rehor said. "We've had great success since we've taken over June 28." Rehor's wife Becky works side by side with him in the evenings.
Rehor and Hunter enhanced the Montana City Grill with expanded hours, new gaming machines in the Saloon including Casino King, a paradise of new wine offerings and more menu choices. At the same time, Rehor said, they know a good thing when they taste it. That's why the best of the Montana City Grill isn't changing. Great dinners, hearty Sunday breakfasts, and huckleberry barbeque sauce are just a few of the Grill stand-bys the partners are keeping. "We are keeping the best of the Montana City Grill," Rehor said. "Why reinvent the wheel when it was already so great?"

In addition, the Grill offers what Rehor calls "two restaurants in one." The fine dining menu boasts items like lobster, crab and prime rib nightly, steaks any way you like them, and Italian cuisine. In the saloon, guests find a more casual menu with items like burgers, appetizers and the Grill's famous huckleberry wings. "People tell us we have the best wings in the Helena area," Rehor said, "and the secret is in the sauce."
Dave Hunter chooses the wine offerings. "It's one of the more expansive wine lists by the glass of any in Helena," Hunter said. "There are 29 sold by the glass." The Grill also sells a new list of 18 Italian wines sold by the bottle. "These are all moderately priced in the range of $20 - $36 and all rated 90 or above by Robert Parker," Hunter said. Parker, author of The Wine Advocate, is the best known wine rater in the country.
These wines are designed to match both the Italian portion of the menu and the American entrees. For those new to wine matching, Hunter ensured the menu descriptions will take the guesswork out of picking wine. "The menu describes what the wine is, where it comes from, what it tastes like, its body. Even if people are not familiar with the wine, the description will give them a good idea. And it's fun to try new wines!" The Grill offers a wine sampler, with a choice of any three wines in 3 ounce glasses.
