Other Information
The great explorers are the inspiration for our breweries name and in many ways our brewing style. It's also where we live as we are located in the heart of the only Lewis & Clark County in the US. Our secret ingredient is the pride and craftsmanship added by dedicated people lucky enough to be called Montanans. Since our beginning, we have gone to the greatest of lengths to build one of the most efficient, sophisticated breweries around with one goal in mind: to produce the finest ales and lagers possible and serve them at their peak of freshness.
Our beers are hand crafted, un-pasteurized and are brewed to levels of quality, which can only be achieved in the finest of breweries. We are proud of what we do and we are confident that everyone who drinks our beers will appreciate the care and craftsmanship served in every glass.
Our new facility is located in a totally remodeled complex of buildings that date back to 1885. Some of the historic buildings were once used as a "smokehouse" (stone building) and the "Montana Packing & Provisions Company" which housed a large 3 story icehouse these were the first buildings constructed here and were in place in 1890. After that there are records that show the smokehouse (stone building) was used as a jail and then finally the entire complex was the birthplace of "Columbia Paints" and served as their factory for 70 years! The brewery now has room to grow and we have added a canning line and additional tanks to increase production. The Tap Room features much more space which includes a mezzanine, a great stage for live music, a game room with pool table, foosball, dart board and a shuffle board table and the Tap Room features a state of the art entertainment/audio video system.
Stop in and look around while sipping a nice hand-crafted beer.
We recently opened an art gallery in the stone section of the brewery (the oldest portion built as a smokehouse by TC Power in 1885 later used as a jail). This space has been outfitted with special lighting and an art hanging system to enable artwork to be changed out on a regular basis. We partnered with The Helena Art Center to create the space which will display local artists work (their members) for sale. They will change out the art every 90 days to keep a fresh look and feel. We are not charging a commission or rental fees just want to support their cause and as a side benefit it creates a nice spot for our customers to enjoy local hand-crafted art while they enjoy a local hand-crafted beer.
The hours of the Gallery inside Lewis & Clark Brewery will be 2-8pm seven days a week.
