BOZEMAN — The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute at Montana State University will host a Friday Forum on Nov. 13 discussing the Bozeman Creek Vision Plan, led by a speaker panel that includes Assistant City Manager Jon Henderson. The free, public event will be held from noon to 1:30 p.m. online via Zoom.
Bozeman Creek, also known locally as Sourdough Creek, has been diverted over time alongside Bozeman’s developing footprint, flowing downtown through tunnels, below buildings and underneath Main Street.
The city of Bozeman, a citizen-led initiative named SeeBozemanCreek and a consultant team have created a proposed vision plan for Bozeman Creek that will provide a long-term roadmap to manage urban sections of the creek. The plan aims to improve flood mitigation, enhance ecological health, expand park and trail access, support economic vitality and strengthen community connections to the waterway.
During the Friday Forum, titled “See Bozeman Creek: Bozeman’s Best Kept Secret,” attendees will learn more about the vision plan and will be able to ask questions.
“The Friday Forum offers an opportunity for everyone in our community to learn about and discuss timely local and regional topics that may impact their lives. Bozeman Creek is no exception,” said Bobbi Geise, director of OLLI at MSU. “Those who join us on Nov. 13 can learn about recent efforts to revitalize and bring Bozeman Creek back into the light, literally."
Participants must register for the forum by 11 a.m. Nov. 13 and can do so online at montana.edu/olli/offerings or via Zoom. Upon registration confirmation, participants will receive an email with the Zoom link and instructions to join the forum.
OLLI at MSU Friday Forums are a program of Academic Outreach and run from September to May.
