HELENA — There is no place like home for a cowboy being on the road for weeks.
So when some made a quick stop in Montana's capital for the Last Chance Stampede this weekend, they made sure to do well in their home state.
Belgrade's Jake Nelson leads the field in steer wrestling with a 3.8 second run in front of second-place Stetson Jorgensen (4.0 seconds) and third-place Curtis Cassidy (4.1 seconds). Helena's Ty Erickson, who came in No. 1 in the world with $125,264, finished with a run of 4.3 seconds.
Another two Montanans who took the lead was Shawn Bessette and Ike Folsom in team roping.

The duo, Bessette from Great Falls and Folsom, from Dillon finished in 4.7 seconds to grab first place away from Garrett Rogers and Jake Minor.
Other notable finishes on Friday night included Draper Utah's Mason Clements scoring 87 points in bareback riding, Challis, Idaho's Kade Bruno scoring 84.5 points riding Break Away in saddle bronc riding and Stinnett,, Texas' Reese Reimer finishing tie-down roping in 8.7 seconds.
