This week, Sidelines reviews the top local area finishers at the Missoula Marathon, along with recent action of the local Class AA and A Legion baseball teams.

At the Missoula Marathon, Clancy's Jonna Schwartz, 35, placed 26th overall in a field of 477 women. Schwartz took 6th in her age group, traversing the 26.2 miles in 3 hours, 32 minutes, 46 seconds

In the half-marathon, Hannah Rohrer-Fitzhugh, 19, of Helena, won her age group with a time of 1:31:39. She was the 17th overall woman finisher in a field of 1,833 runners. Akilah Lane, 36, also of the Capital City, ran a 1:31:55, placing 19th overall and third in her age group.

On the men's side, Jesse Zentz, 43, captured his age group with a time of 1:17:28, while leading the local area contingent with a 21st placing overall against 882 other athletes. Zane Rousch, 18, ran a 1:22:14, taking seventh in his age group and 32nd overall.

Baseball

At a Legion AA baseball tournament in Bozeman last month, the Helena Senators won twice, beating Idaho teams Pocatello 7-6 and Couer d'Alene 10-2.

In Helena's three wins over Medicine Hat leading up to the Keith Sell Invitational, the Senators outscored the Monarchs by a combined score of 32-11.

Spearheading the offense were Ryan Barrett (double, home run, 8 RBIs), Ty McGurran (2 doubles) and Matt Krieger (4 RBIs) with five hits apiece. Chase Nielsen (double, 5 RBIs) had four base knocks. Zach Spiroff, Grady Koenig, Tyler Tenney, Brady Anderson and Hunter Kirkpatrick also contributed at the plate.

The pitching was paced by Cy Miller, Ethan Keintz, Nielsen and Kirkpatrick.

The Helena Reps placed third in the Class A Cloninger Classic at Kindrick Legion Field recently, beating the Havre Northstars 18U in the consolation finals, 16-8.

Hunter Bratcher sparked the Reps 13-hit attack with three base raps, a double and 4 RBIs. Victor Scott (2 RBIs), Dillon Brenden (2 RBIs) and Joel Anderson posted a pair of hits each.

Pitchers Jack Marcille and Mike Hurlbert shared the mound work against Havre. Bozeman captured the tourney title.
