The Helena Bighorns high school hockey team took Eastern Montana by storm with a four-game winning streak against Miles City and Glasgow over Presidents Day weekend. The Horns scored a record-setting 70 goals in just two days.
The Bighorns defeated Miles City Friday night and Saturday morning with game scores of 15-2 and 24-1. Following a short road trip, they went on to overpower Glasgow Saturday afternoon 15-1 and again Saturday evening 16-5.
Kaden Lindberg led the team in points with 32, comprised of 19 goals and 13 assists. Lindberg was followed by Colin Sassano with 27 points (16 goals, 11 assists). Every member of the team, except the goalie was able to put the puck in the net. Scoring for the team on the weekend were: Jacob Sodja (11 goals, 4 assists), Blake Nichols ( 6 goals, 2 assists), Kameron Kottas ( 5 goals, 2 assists), Simon Jolicoeur (3 goals, 4 assists), Marcus Roberts (3 goals, 3 assists), Justin Durbin (3 goals, 2 assists), Nick Garcia (2 goals, 3 assists) and Will Nese (2 goals, 2 assists).
Morgan Butler played three games in net and saved 35 of 43 shots, while Jolicoeur tended one game and saved 7 of 8.
The Bighorns are home this Friday night against the Butte Copper City Kings, and will be honoring their eight seniors as they play their last home game as Helena Bighorns.
March 3-6 marks the Treasure State League High School Championships in Whitefish.
