The Capital High softball team opened it conference season with a doubleheader sweep in Kalispell on Saturday.

The Bruins shutout Glacier 7-0 in the first game, followed by a 17-2 trouncing of Flathead in five innings.

April Davis sparked Capital's offense against the Wolfpack, going 2-for-3, with two runs batted in and a run scored.

Shelby Martin was 3-for-4 with an RBI, while Taylor Mathews banged a double and a single, and drove in a run. Morgan Rehm also had two hits.

Martin twirled the complete game in the circle, striking out seven without a walk. Sage Vanterpool took the loss for Glacier, while teammate Kinzie Mohl had two hits.

In the nightcap, CHS banged out 21 hits, led by Rehm's 4-for-4 effort with three RBIs. Kaedin Rosling (two RBIs) and Kacie Gross each stroked three hits.

Collecting two base knocks apiece were Mathews (double, two RBIs), April Davis, Nicole Ames (double, two RBIs) and Martin. Teammate Sarah Bury also drove in two runs.

Ames pitched a four-hitter for the win, fanning nine Flathead batsmen with four walks.

Maitlynn Betts was saddled with the loss. Kaileigh Denna hit a two-run homer for the Bravettes.
