The Helena Capital High volleyball team won the Missoula County Volleyball Invitational Tournament on Friday, beating Corvallis 25-21, 25-23 for the championship. The Bruins went undefeated in the 16-team tourney without losing a set, while lifting their overall season record to 22-2.
Capital, ranked No. 2 in the latest coaches poll, won itfirst match on Friday 25-23, 25-16, over Glacier. In the semifinals match, CHS upended No. 1 crosstown Helena 28-26, 25-15.
Setter Audrey Hofer led the Bruins on the day with 60 assists and 20 digs, while Paige Bartsch had eight blocks and three service aces (tie). Dani Bartsch added 25 kills and Sarah Ashley had three aces.
Helena went 1-2 on the day, beating Libby in the opener 25-20, 25-18 and losing to Flathead in the consolation finals 25-15, 24-26, 15-11. The Bengals slipped to 20-5 on the year.
Helena was paced by Jamie Pickens with 20 kills on the day, while Emily Feller had 46 assists and fired eight service aces, and Vanessa Walsh posted 30 digs. Emily Pizzini was tops with five blocks.
