GREAT FALLS — The Capital High boys placed third in the 13-team Great Falls Invitational Golf Tournament on Tuesday, posting a 336-316--652.

Bozeman won the season's curtain-raising tourney with a 296-289--585. The Hawks' JR Small fired a 73-67--140 to capture the individual titlist honors.

Trevor Swanson led Capital with an 81-76--157, followed by Gabe Witham at 83-78--161. Next for coach Casey Lyndes' Bruins were Caswell Bloomquist and Brett Stoos, at 165 and 169, respectively.

Helena High carded a score of 392-364--756, paced by Luke Thompson's 96-76--172. Rounding out Helena coach Bob Tipton's scorers were Adler Libbert (189), Byren Stoner (202) and Myles Jacobs (205).

On the girls side, Helena tallied a 370-385--755 to finish fifth. The Lady Hawks garnered the team crown with a 340-334--674, while runner-up Billings West's Carrie Carpenter fired a 78-79--157 to win the individual championship.

The HHS linksters were led by Ginny Kerr at 86-83--169, and Lauren Williams with an 86-94--180. Next came Pilar Santos and Cecil Chapman, at 193 and 213.

The CHS Lady Bruins carded a 422-415--837, sparked by a 97-101--198 from Zita Graveley. The rest of Capital's scorers were KK Lawrence (205), Lexi McNew (217) and Makayla Bury (221).
