HELENA — The Missoula Sentinel basketball teams not only swept the recent Western AA Divisional basketball tournament championships, the Spartans also garnered both tourney’s All-Tournament MVP citations.
In a balloting among attending media, the Spartans’ Sam Beighle received the most votes in the boys tourney, while Jordyn Schweyen led the ballots on the girls side.
In Sentinel’s 59-56 overtime win over Hellgate in the boys title game, Beighle scored 21 points and collected a game-high eight rebounds. He netted 22 counters during the semifinals for a 21.5 average in the tourney.
Schweyen netted 26 points in her two games, including 19 in the 59-52 overtime win over Helena in the title tilt. Against the Bengals, Schweyen went 7 of 10 from the floor, highlighted by 4 of 7 from 3-point land. She also passed for three assists and blocked a shot.

Rounding out the squad were third-place Helena’s Connor Murgel and Dawson Tedesco, Flathead’s Sam Elliott and Eric Seaman, Hellgate’s Rollie Worster, and Trevor Swanson of Capital.
The Spartan ladies boasted four all-tourney selections, consisting of Schweyen, her sister Shelby Schweyen, Lexi Deden and Kylie Frohlich.
Runner-up Helena put a trio of hoopsters on the squad, including Kamden Hilborn, Jamie Pickens and Emily Feller.
