A 10-game winning streak to close the regular season has vaulted the Billings West girls to the No. 2 spot in the final Class AA 406mtsports.com rankings.
West’s jump moved Sentinel, a loser to Kalispell Glacier last week, and Helena Capital each down a spot, to No. 3 and No. 4, respectively. Billings Senior remained at No. 5. Helena High remains the No. 1 team in Class AA.
On the boys side, the rankings saw a drastic amount of changes in the final week as four of last week's five ranked teams all took a loss. Missoula Hellgate is now the No. 1 team after wins over Helena and Helena Capital. The Knights, who were the No. 4 team a week ago, replace Great Falls CMR, which was swept over the weekend by Billings Senior and Billings West. The Rustlers fall to No. 5. Kalispell Flathead also makes its season debut, soaring in at No. 2 after taking down previous No. 2 Missoula Sentinel and Kalispell Glacier. The Spartans drop one spot to No. 3.
Great Falls drops one spot to No. 4 after taking a loss to West but narrowly defeating Senior. Bozeman, which has been ranked all season long, fell off this week's rankings as the Hawks have lost four of their last five games.
The Eastern AA Divisional begins Thursday at Butte.
The Class A rankings were finalized last week, while Class B and C were completed two weeks ago.
