Spencer Williams and Anna DeMars took the first-day lead at the City Golf Tournament on Saturday at Bill Roberts Golf Course.

Williams fired a 3-under par 69, forging a narrow 1-stroke lead over Todd Waterman and Colin Gunstream, both with 70s. Williams, the 2015 City champion, carded four birdies on the day. Waterman was last year's City senior's titlist.

Next is Mike Williams in fourth place at 1-under, just 2-shots back with a 71, followed by Nick Schwinden and Bob Anderson, Jr., tied for fifth at 72s. Brady Kirkeby, last year's winner, is 11 out of the lead with an 80.

DeMars shot a 1-under par 71 in the women's tourney, and also holds a 1-stroke cushion, in front of Julie Eggleston at even par 72. DeMars, who is last year's champion, fired four birdies.

In the senior men's, KC Yahvah sits atop the leader board after carding a 73 for another 1-shot edge. Next are Mike Majors and Roy Murray, sharing second with 74s ahead of Jay Anderson's 75.

On the women's side, last year's seniors winner Susan Court and DJ Jones are deadlocked out in front with identical 85s.

The City Tourney concludes on Sunday at Green Meadow Country Club.
