Carroll’s Dane Warp shots a one-handed jumper over Northwest’s Nick Navarro during Saturday’s game in Helena. The Saints defeated the Eagles 101-60.

The Frontier Conference announced its all-conference football teams and Champions of Character awards last Tuesday as voted on by the conference coaches.

Rocky Mountain coach Jason Petrino was selected as Coach of the Year while his quarterback, Jacob Bakken, was selected as the Offensive Player of the Year.

The Battlin’ Bears finished the season 8-4 overall and won the Frontier Conference championship before losing in the first round of the NAIA Tournament to Morningside College 49-20 in Sioux City, Iowa.

Montana Western junior linebacker Jason Ferris was also selected as the Defensive Player of the Year.

Carroll's Warp wins Frontier men’s hoops player of the week

Carroll College junior guard Dane Warp won the Frontier Conference Men's Basketball Player of the Week award after scoring a triple double against Salish Kootenai College that consisted of 45 points, 11 rebounds and 11 assists.

One day after Warp’s triple double helped the Saints defeat the Bison 151-72, he returned to the PE Center and put up 28 points, seven rebounds and seven assists in his team’s 101-60 win over Northwest University.

He was a combined 9 of 14 from the 3-point line and shot 77 percent from the field.

Others nominated for the award included Lewis-Clark State’s Dana Abe, Montana State Northern’s Justin Dunsmore, Montana Tech’s Nick Fitts, Montana Western’s Cooper Kidgell, Rocky Mountain’s Jared Samuelson and the University of Providence’s Jalen Shepard.

Carroll’s Dean wins Frontier women’s hoops player of the week

Carroll College senior forward Hannah Dean won the Frontier Conference Women's Basketball Player of the Week award after her performance over three games since last Monday.

Dean averaged 15 points, 6.3 rebounds and 2.7 assists as the Saints defeated No. 9 Westmont College 59-50 last Monday and Valley City State 69-68 on Saturday in Billings.

Carroll also played NCAA Division II Montana State Billings and lost 63-61.

Others nominated for the award included Rock Mountain’s Markaela Francis, Lewis-Clark State’s Abbie Johnson, Montana State Northern’s Peyton Kehr and Montana Tech’s Mollie Peoples.
