CALGARY — The third-ranked Carroll College men's basketball lost a game — the first of the season —Thursday night, but its 11-game winning streak is still alive.
Carroll dropped an exhibition game 72-54 in a road game to Calgary. The two teams play a again Friday night in a counting nonconference game.
Calgary jumped out to a 22-5 lead after the first quarter, but the Saints (11-0) won the second quarter to make it 32-24 at halftime in Calgary's favor.
The Dinos (14-1) then took control of the game in the second half. Brett Layton finished with 19 points and 11 rebounds for Calgary.
Lars Schlueter added 14 points for the Dinos, while Andrew Milner added 12 points and David Kapinga had 11.
Junior guard Dane Warp led all scorers with 23, but he was the only Carroll player to crack double figures
The Saints have two more games against Canadian teams after Friday's Calgary contest. They face Alberta-Augustana at 4 p.m. on Sunday in the P.E. Center and then go to Lethbridge on Dec. 16 before Frontier Conference play resumes.
