WHITEFISH -- Student-athletes from Carroll College in Helena and the University of Providence in Great Falls have been named the basketball players of the week by the Frontier Conference.
Carroll's Matt Wyman earned the men's award for his role in the Saints' season-opening home win over the University of Lethbridge. The 6-foot-7 senior guard from Great Falls scored 32 points on the Pronghorns -- pushing him past the 1,000-point career mark -- and grabbed 14 rebounds. Wyman was 9 of 20 from the field and 13 of 15 from the free throw line.
Parker Esary of the University of Providence was named women's basketball player of the week after scoring 23 points and recording 12 rebounds, two assists and three steals in the Argos' 77-69 season-opening home victory over Mount Royal University. The 6-foot-1 sophomore center from Kalama, Washington, was 8 of 10 from the field and 7 of 7 from the free throw line.
