Carroll College track and field coach Harry Clark has announced the signing of Drummond High School product Claire Fickler to a letter of intent on Thursday.
Fickler is a two-time 100-meter State C champion and twice earned second place in the 200. She would likely be attempting her fourth consecutive 100-meter title this spring but missed her sophomore season after an injury in basketball.
"Claire is a diamond in the rough. We have been watching her since she was a freshman," Clark said. "She has been coming to our clinics. She has great potential. Her work ethic and drive are tremendous and she does it the right way. She is another blue-collar kid whose name you will be hearing for a while."
Fickler will immediately make an impact in the sprints and the long jump. She will also contribute to the Carroll relay teams.

"She will fit in well with our relay teams, she works hard in the weight room and does her best to improve," Clark said. "Claire isn't a selfish kid, she will be a great teammate, and I think the other girls on the team will appreciate what she brings to the table."
