The Saints and Orediggers are moving.
Originally scheduled to open the football season on Sept. 2 in Butte, the teams will now play on Thursday, Aug. 31, under the lights at Alumni Coliseum. The teams will now kick off at 7 p.m. on Bob Green Field.
The last night game at Alumni Coliseum was the home opener in 2014 against Montana State-Northern. This is the first Thursday night home opener for the Orediggers since facing off against South Dakota School of Mines in 2010.
Montana Tech last played Carroll College at night in September, 2011. In 2003, the Orediggers also hosted the Saints on a Thursday night to open the season.
Tech coach Chuck Morrell and Carroll's Mike Van Diest have met 10 times over the last five seasons, with Van Diest holding a 6-4 edge. The Orediggers, however, are 3-1 against the Saints over the last two seasons.
The Orediggers are 12-0 on Bob Green Field dating back to the beginning of the 2015 season, and Morrell has guided the Orediggers to a 23-12 record in the Mining City.
