Montana defensive end and Idaho Native Reggie Tilleman (99) holds up the Little Brown Stein after Montana won.

MISSOULA — Montana senior defensive lineman Reggie Tilleman was named a finalist for the STATS FCS Doris Robinson Scholar-Athlete Award.

Tilleman is one of 13 players — and the only one from the Big Sky Conference — who is a finalist for the award, presented to an FCS student-athlete who excels in the classroom and community.

The winner will be announced on Monday, and the award will be presented at the STATS FCS Awards Banquet in Frisco, Texas, on Jan. 4, the day before the FCS national championship game.

A former walk-on from Idaho, Tilleman is a two-time Academic All-Big Sky Selection and was named to the Academic All-District 7 first team last month. He's earned a bachelors degree in business administration and finance, and he's working on his MBA.

Tilleman finished his career with 55 total tackles, 7.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks and one pass breakup in 27 games. He started all 11 games in 2018 and was a team captain.
