Helena Independents pitcher Caden Sell fired a no-hitter during the team's final game at the Gallatin Valley Posse's Class B Legion baseball tournament recently. Sell's jewel -- which featured six strikeouts in five innings -- occurred in a 25-0 win over the Great Falls Chargers B. Brady Howell led the Reps attack, going 4 for 4, while Rudy Barkley and Peyton Witham knocked three hits each.
Helena finished at 4-1 for the event, raising their record to 30-9.
Against the Belgrade Bandits B, Sell had a pair of hits with Colby Howell posting two RBIs in the 11-7 triump. Campbell Turner and Hunter Lindgren shared the mound work. In game two, Helena lost in the seventh inning to the Missoula Mavericks B, 10-7. Chase Nielsen paced the offense at 3 for 3, with four RBIs. Barkley, Nielsen and Witham shared the duties on the bump.
Next, the Independents won a five-inning affair over the Bitterroot Red Sox B 11-0. Sell posted three hits, while Nielsen and Witham banged two base knocks each. Pitcher Cy Miller twired a two-hitter for the win. Helena then defeated GVP "B" in five. Miller and Howell both had three RBIs and two hits. Sam Shepherd gave up just one earned run on the hill.
