Caden Sell hit a two-run bases loaded single in the fifth inning for the Helena Senators to take the lead on the Butte Miners in a nonconference American Legion baseball game Thursday night at Kindrick Legion Field.

The Senators went on to win 9-6.

The Senators (7-4) took advantage of 11 walks from Butte pitchers and five defensive errors by the Miners. Zach Spiroff led the Helena offense with two hits and three runs scored. Cy Miller scored twice and Sell had two RBIs.

The Senators scored two runs in the fourth inning, three in the fifth and three in the six. Both three-run innings happened with two outs. The Senators play a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Sunday against Bitterrroot.

Hunter Kirkpatrick pitched two middle relief innings to pick up the win. Casey Kaufman took the loss for Butte.

Ryan Wahl had a big night for Butte, going 4-for-4. Aiden Lee went 3-for-3.
