Debate over the use of Kindrick Legion Field continues between the American Legion baseball program and collegiate baseball Expedition League.

More public comment will be heard at a Helena administrative meeting at 4 p.m. on Sept. 5 at the City-County Building, room 326.

The Expedition League hopes to replaced the departing Helena Brewers minor league pro team next season with college players in a wood bat league, while the Helena Senators American Legion team hopes to be the only baseball program to use the stadium for its three teams that serves area high school and middle school players.

The Expedition League has been passing out fliers at Brewers game to roundup up support, while the American Legion has been reaching out to the youth baseball community.

The Mayor and City Commissioners met at the administrative meeting July 25 and the decision was made to wait two years before revisiting the issue of bringing in a new team with the preference being another minor league professional team, according to the minutes of the meeting.

However, it was later decided to hear more public comment at this meeting before finalizing the previous decision.
