I appreciate the factual reporting in the Aug. 7 newspaper of something that has been known to conservatives for many months: “…unemployment remained 3.7%, near a 50-year low”. However, this fact, which should have been cause for rejoicing, was hidden in the middle of an AP article entitled “US job openings flat in June at 7.35 million”, on the last page of Section A.
I feel that a truly unbiased article would have broadcast the facts by focusing on the extremely good news, not waiting for a flat month to complain of bad news and hiding the joyful part where few would see it! If the press corps were honest, the headlines would have been “Historic 50-year Unemployment Low”, and it would have been on the front page. If this had occurred under President Obama, that would be where and how these facts would have been presented. Honesty matters!
