An open letter to Governor Bullock:
Governor, I have lived in Montana most of my 74 years, and have never seen the kind of smokey conditions from forest fires that we have experienced these past few years. Most climate scientists believe they are largely a result of human-caused Climate Change and, despite contrarian views of scientists funded by the fossil fuel industry, I believe them.
Are these increasingly worsening conditions the kind of future you want for your children? Well, as Governor, you can help improve this situation by supporting a GE-Hitachi plan to transform Colstrip 1&2 into a carbon-free electricity producer. As you surely know, I spoke at length with your former Energy Advisor, Tim Baker, about this and asked for an opportunity to discuss the idea with you in person. My request fell on deaf ears.
With your help, Colstrip 1&2 could become a demonstration plant that paves the way for many otherwise doomed coal-fired power plants to be transformed into carbon-free energy producers by simply replacing their boilers with GE-Hitachi fourth-generation PRISM advanced reactors. These reactors use nuclear waste for fuel, destroying nearly 95 percent of it in the process of generating carbon-free electricity. PRISM is a perfect waste-to-energy solution that truly deserves your attention, consideration and support.
I have been in touch with a GE-Hitachi Vice President who is anxious to discuss this prospect with you and other Colstrip decision makers. Won't you please make time to meet and talk with him and I about his company's amazing Climate Change solution?
