After reading Brent Northup’s column in the Jan. 31 Your Time, I would like to thank Brent for recognizing that The Myrna Loy presents many of the most acclaimed films each and every year and calls out the Myrna to do more. We are quite fortunate in Helena to have a wonderful theatre complex in the Cinemark theatres as a venue for superheroes and blockbusters. But it’s The Myrna the brings our community the award-winning and thought-provoking films that would likely not be available to us otherwise. In fact, in Brent’s Top 10 of 2018, four of the top six were shown at the Myrna. No. 1 on his list, "Roma," is a Netflix release and not in general distribution. Not only that, in Helena’s Empty Popcorn Bag of movies that Brent lists as not having been shown in Helena, Spike Lee’s "BlacKKKlansman" was indeed shown at – you got it - The Myrna Loy. "If Beale Street Could Talk" opened Feb. 1 and others are upcoming. So to Benji Cosgrove, film manager at The Myrna, whom Brent urges, “Book’em Benji,” I say, “Thanks for booking’em, Benji!”
See you at The Myrna Loy.
