The driver of an SUV suffered potentially life-threatening injuries when a semi crossed into the southbound lane on Interstate 15 between Montana City and Clancy causing a head-on collision.
Montana Highway Patrol Trooper Brandon Uhl said the semi was traveling northbound on I-15 when it entered the median and then entered the southbound lane where it struck a Toyota 4Runner head on. The crash, which occurred at about 12:30 p.m., blocked southbound lanes until nearly 4 p.m. Traffic was diverted onto the frontage road at Montana City during the incident.
The driver of the Toyota suffered potentially life-threatening injuries while the semi driver suffered non-life-threatening injuries, Uhl said. Both drivers were transported to St. Peter's Health.
Seat belts were used, which likely saved the life of the driver of the Toyota, he said.
The crash remained under investigation, including whether drugs, alcohol or speed played a factor, as of 4p.m.
