Emergency crews are responding to reports of downed trees and power outages in the Helena area Saturday afternoon.
A thunderstorm with strong winds moved through Helena midafternoon. While the strongest part of the storm stayed north and east, which included large hail and winds up to 60 mph, both emergency responders and NorthWestern Energy were responding after the storm.

Lt. Brett Petty with the Helena Police Department said both police and the fire department had quite a few reports of downed trees. None were blocking major arteries, he said, although some trees that blew over had reportedly damaged vehicles.
The storm also knocked out power in several areas, although most outages were short-lived. NorthWestern expected to restore power by 6:30 p.m. for an outage near Walmart affecting about 700 customers.
