A 20-year-old Butte man has been charged for allegedly having sex with a 13-year-old girl in Butte last fall.
Jacob Mitchell Young was charged with felony sexual intercourse without consent earlier this month and was arrested on a warrant Monday, authorities say. The crime allegedly occurred in the 1100 block of West Park Street between Oct. 1 and Nov. 11 last year, according to charging documents. Young was 19 at the time.
Young made an initial appearance before Justice of the Peace Jimm Kilmer on Tuesday and bond was set at $150,000.
Police say the girl's father contacted officers on Nov. 11 and said he believed his daughter had sex with a 19-year-old. Young admitted to that when interviewed by an officer, police said Tuesday.
The charge carries a maximum sentence of life in prison and under Montana law, there is a minimum sentence of four years if the victim is under 16 and the offender is four or more years older.
