Authorities suspect 26-year-old Richard Ferris shot and killed 21-year-old Olivia Serrano before fatally shooting himself Monday at a Helena home.

"The two were known to be acquaintances," the Helena Police Department said in a press release. "The weapon believed to be used in the case has been recovered from the scene."

The bodies of the two Helena residents were found around 10 a.m. Monday in the 1100 block of Hannaford Street. The Lewis and Clark County Coroner's Office released their names Tuesday afternoon.

Police said they are still working on the case, but they are not seeking any suspects or people of interest. Police have no reason to believe there is a public safety issue.

The area was closed to traffic for the better part of Monday and partitioned off with crime scene tape. A half-dozen Helena Police Department vehicles and multiple uniformed officers and detectives were on the scene through the morning.

Deputy Coroner Tim Wong said the bodies were transported to the state crime lab in Missoula, and autopsies were completed Tuesday.
