Two people were arrested Wednesday and two others remain at large after they allegedly broke into a Lewis and Clark County facility and stole an impounded trailer.

Lisa M. Creswell and Trent T. Morley were arrested on suspicion of felony burglary, tampering with evidence and theft.

Lewis and Clark County Sheriff Leo Dutton says the trailer in question was impounded at a county facility after being reported stolen and recovered as evidence in the theft.

Creswell, Morley and two other suspects are accused of cutting a lock on a gate at the facility, hooking up to the trailer and driving away with it. Dutton says a county evidence technician followed the vehicle and reported the location to law enforcement.

The trailer was ditched in a neighborhood, and later Creswell and Morley were arrested while on foot, according to Cpt. Kevin Wright. The original theft of the trailer remains under investigation, he added.

Dutton could not recall any other instances of someone breaking into and stealing an impounded vehicle or trailer in Lewis and Clark County. Security measures at the facility include locks, cameras and electronic gates, but officials will be looking at potentially upgrading security, he said.
