  • At 12:16 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Benton and Leslie. Contact was made with the male driver, who demonstrated signs of impairment. The male was tested for DUI. At the conclusion of the investigation, the 30-year-old Helena man was arrested for his second DUI and aggravated DUI. He was booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.
  • At 2:14 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Dearborn and Power. Contact was made with the male driver, who demonstrated signs of impairment. The male was tested for DUI. At the conclusion of the investigation, the 30-year-old Helena man was arrested for his fourth, felony DUI, aggravated DUI and suspended driver’s license. He was booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center. 
  • At 6:19 p.m., an officer responded to the 300 block of Park for a report of a theft of vehicle parts.
  • At 6:42 p.m., officers responded to the 1700 block of Missoula for a report of a domestic disturbance. Involved parties were located and it was determined nothing criminal occurred. An involved female was identified and it was discovered she had a valid warrant for her arrest. The 28-year-old Helena woman was arrested for the warrant and booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.

The Helena Police Department responded to 74 calls for service. Of those calls, they responded to four vehicle crashes, five welfare checks, three trespassing complaints and seven suspicious circumstance calls.

As of Wednesday morning, the county jail held 90 inmates (83 for felonies and seven for misdemeanors). In total, the county has 104 inmates at various detention facilities. Ninety-nine clients are serviced by the 24/7 sobriety program. Of these, 53 are on PBT (Personal Breath Test), 29 are on SCRAM (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor bracelet), four are on GPS, and 13 are on house arrest. Pretrial Services is currently working with 292 clients.
