Helena Police Department incidents reported Tuesday, July 23, 2019


July 22

  • At 11:37 a.m., an officer responded to the area of Saddle and Winne for a report of a juvenile male in possession of a firearm. The juvenile was located and identified. He was found to be in possession of an airsoft pistol. He was also found to be in possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia. He was cited and referred to juvenile probation.
  • At 8:56 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 600 block of N. Montana for a report of a shoplift. It was reported the male suspect was being detained at the business. The officer arrived and identified the male. At the conclusion of the investigation, the 47-year-old Butte man was cited for theft and referred to Municipal Court.  

The Helena Police Department responded to 93 calls for service. Of those calls, they responded to five vehicle crashes, five animal calls, 12 theft calls, five trespassing complaints, six welfare checks, six suspicious circumstance calls and conducted 14 traffic stops.


As of Tuesday morning, the county jail held 110 inmates (100 for felonies and 10 for misdemeanors). In total, the county has 121 inmates at various detention facilities. There are 105 clients serviced by the 24/7 sobriety program. Of these, 66 are on PBT (Personal Breath Test), 29 are on SCRAM (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor bracelet), three are on GPS and seven are on house arrest. Pretrial Services is currently working with 300 clients.
