  • At 9:50 a.m., an officer was advised of a juvenile that was in possession of marijuana. Investigation into the matter led to a 17-year-old female being issued citations for possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. She was referred to Juvenile Probation.
  • At 9:50 a.m., an officer was advised of a male in the 2500 block of Broadway Street that had an outstanding warrant for his arrest. Investigation into the matter led to a 60-year-old male being placed under arrest for the active Justice Court warrant, felony possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.
  • At 3:33 p.m., an officer was advised a male with several active warrants was going to be in the 700 block of Elaine Street. The officer located the male and investigation into the matter led to a 23-year-old male being placed under arrest for five active arrest warrants. The male was also arrested for felony possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.
  • At 4:07 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 0 block of Park Avenue for a report of trespassing situation. Investigation into the matter led to a 59-year-old male being placed under arrest for three active arrest warrants. The male was also arrested for felony possession of dangerous drugs and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center. While officers were on that call, they observed a male ride by on his bicycle and knew the male had an active warrant for his arrest. The officers were able to catch up to this male and placed him under arrest for his active Jefferson County Justice Court warrant. This male was additionally charged with obstructing a peace officer. He was booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center as well.
  • At 11:14 p.m., an officer was conducting extra patrols on the Walking Mall and observed a male with an open container of alcoholic beverage. While speaking to this male, the officer learned he had an outstanding warrant out of Helena Municipal Court. The 38-year-old male was placed under arrest for his active arrest warrant and open container violation.  He was booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.

The Helena Police Department responded to 146 calls for service including: eight non-injury accidents, 10 animal calls, two domestic incidents, four disorderly or disturbance calls, ten suspicious incidents, nine thefts and four welfare checks.

As of Thursday morning, the county jail held 108 inmates (99 for felonies and nine for misdemeanors). In total, the county has 120 inmates at various detention facilities. There are 79 clients serviced by the 24/7 sobriety program. Of these, 44 are on PBT (Personal Breath Test), 23 are on SCRAM (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor bracelet), four are on GPS, and eight are on house arrest. Pretrial Services is currently working with 327 clients.
