  • At 5 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 200 block of Breckenridge for a report of criminal mischief to a vehicle.
  • At 7:01 a.m., an officer responded to the 1600 block of 11th Avenue for a report of someone spray-painting graffiti. 
  • At 12:16 p.m., an officer responded to the 3100 block of Montana Avenue for a report of attempted shoplifting. The suspect fled the scene leaving a backpack behind. Suspected dangerous drugs were located in the backpack. The case is active.
  • At 10:11 p.m., officers responded to the 1100 block of Billings for a report of a domestic disturbance. When officers arrived, it was discovered a male responded to a residence where he was prohibited from being at due to a no contact order. Further, it was determined the male demonstrated signs of impairment. At the conclusion of the investigation, the 51-year-old Helena man was arrested for DUI, possession of drug paraphernalia and violation of a no-contact order. He was booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.

The Helena Police Department responded to 70 calls for service. Of those calls, they responded to four vehicle crashes, 10 welfare checks, five trespassing complaints and three suspicious circumstance calls.

As of Thursday morning, the county jail held 92 inmates (84 for felonies and eight for misdemeanors). In total, the county has 107 inmates at various detention facilities. Ninety-nine clients are serviced by the 24/7 sobriety program. Of these, 53 are on Personal Breath Test, 29 are on Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor bracelet, four are on GPS and 13 are on house arrest. Pretrial Services is currently working with 294 clients.
