April 12 

  • At 12:37 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Euclid Avenue and Grant Street. Contact was made with the female driver and male passenger and they were both identified. Both occupants were found to have valid warrants for their arrest. The 29-year-old Helena woman and the 44-year-old Helena-area man were arrested and booked into the LCSO jail.
  • At 1:19 a.m., an officer was dispatched to the 3400 block of Tricia Street for a report of a theft of belongings from a vehicle.
  • At 1:31 a.m., an officer conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of 8th Avenue and Rodney Street. When contact was made, the male driver demonstrated signs of impairment and was tested for DUI. At the conclusion of the investigation, the 29-year-old Helena man was arrested for DUI. He was booked into the LCSO jail.
  • At 12:18 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 300 block of Chaucer Street for a report of a theft of license plates.
  • At 1:05 p.m., an officer responded to the 2700 block of Prospect Avenue for a report of a cold shoplift. Video surveillance was captured and the case is active.
  • At 2:25 p.m., an officer responded to the 10 block of South Ewing Street for a report of a theft.
  • At 3:35 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 3100 block of North Montana Avenue for a report of a shoplift that had just occurred. Video surveillance was captured and the case is active.
  • At 3:38 p.m., an officer was dispatched to the 1200 block of Last Chance Gulch for a report of two juvenile males in a physical altercation. When officers arrived, the fight had broken up and one of the involved parties fled. Both boys were later located and cited for disorderly conduct. They were referred to juvenile probation.
  • At 5:30 p.m., an officer responded to the 600 block of Stuart Street for a report of a burglary to a residence. The case is active.
  • At 10:46 p.m., officers were dispatched to the area of Cedar and Washington streets for a report of a single vehicle rollover crash. Officers arrived and found the male driver out of the vehicle and alert; there were no other occupants in the vehicle. The male driver was demonstrating signs of impairment and tested for DUI. At the conclusion of the investigation, the 56-year-old Helena man was arrested for DUI-felony (seventh offense), aggravated DUI, no insurance and careless driving. He was booked into the LCSO jail.

The Helena Police Department responded to 90 calls for service on Friday. Of those calls, they responded to 11 vehicle crashes, five welfare checks, six trespassing complaints and eight suspicious circumstance calls.
