Helena Police Department incidents reported Monday, Aug. 26, 2019

Aug. 25

  • At 1:43 a.m., an officer responded to the 1000 block of Wilder for a report of two people possibly breaking into vehicles. Two males were located and identified, but there was no evidence they were breaking into vehicles. One of the males, a 24-year-old Helena man was found to be in possession of dangerous drugs and drug paraphernalia. He was cited for the offenses and referred to Municipal Court. The other male, a 21-year-old Helena-area man, was found to have an active arrest warrant. He was arrested and booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.
  • At 7:33 a.m., officers responded to the 1300 block of Waukesha in regards to some found property. Officers were able to determine who the property belonged to. Officers responded to the area of Montana and Custer to locate the male owner, whom they knew had a warrant for his arrest. Thee male was located at a business and attempted to flee from the officers. He was apprehended a short distance later. The 41-year-old Helena man was arrested for the warrant and Obstructing a police officer. He was booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.
  • At 2:29 p.m., an officer responded to the 2900 block of Prospect for a report of custody interference. It was reported there was a male from Oregon possibly staying in the area. The male was reported to be in custody of his juvenile son in violation of a custody order from Oregon. The male was located and was indeed in the custody of his son. The 44-year-old Oregon man was arrested for Custodial Interference and booked into the Lewis and Clark County Detention Center.  

The Helena Police Department responded to 73 calls for service. Of those calls, they responded to four vehicle crashes, nine animal calls, six disorderly calls, five theft calls, three trespassing calls, one welfare check, nine suspicious circumstance calls and conducted 10 traffic stops.

As of Monday morning, the county jail held 106 inmates (91 for felonies and 15 for misdemeanors). In total, the county has 118 inmates at various detention facilities. 74 clients are serviced by the 24/7 sobriety program. Of these, 46 are on PBT (Personal Breath Test), 21 are on SCRAM (Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor bracelet), 4 are on GPS, and 3 are on house arrest. Pretrial Services is currently working with 322 clients.
