  • 9:59 a.m., an officer arrested a 50-year-old Helena male in the 800 block of North Ewing for violating the terms of his probation, and for criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. He was booked at the detention center.
  • 1:59 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near Benton and Euclid Avenues. After investigation, the officer arrested the driver – a 35-year-old Helena female – for first offense driving under the influence, aggravated DUI and failure to obey a red traffic signal. She was booked at the detention center.
  • 1:49 p.m., officers responded to a medical call in the 500 block of Logan Street concerning a possibly combative male. The male was eventually placed into protective custody and transported to the hospital for treatment.
  • 3:49 p.m., an officer took a report of a theft from and trespass to a motor vehicle in the 500 block of Wilder.

Feb. 1

  • 12:50 a.m., an officer responded to a business in the 10 block of North Last Chance Gulch to a report of a female using a false ID to purchase alcohol. The officer located the female – a 20-year-old Helena resident – and cited her with underage possession of alcohol and for unlawful use of license/ID card. She was cited and released.
  • 2:06 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle for a traffic violation near Montana and Enterprise Drive. The driver – a 24-year-old Helena male – was arrested for criminal possession of dangerous drugs (felony), criminal possession of drug paraphernalia, no liability insurance, and for violating the terms of his probation. The passenger in the vehicle – a 20-year-old Helena male – was also arrested on a valid warrant for his arrest, in addition to criminal possession of drug paraphernalia. Both were booked at the detention center.

  • 8:42 a.m., an officer was called to a residence in the 200 block of Breckenridge Street to investigate a theft from a motor vehicle. The owner reported a .22 rifle and other belonging were stolen from his vehicle while parked in the 2900 block of Prospect earlier in the day.

In the past seven days, HPD officers have completed 164 criminal reports and responded to 534 calls for service, including eight injury accidents, 29 non-injury accidents, nine assaults, three burglaries, and six drug-related calls.

Just as a reminder, all operations will be in the 406 Fuller Avenue building beginning Monday morning. The records section will be closed this afternoon at the law enforcement center (221 Breckenridge) to move to the new facility. Records can be reached this afternoon by phone at 406-447-8486.

As of Friday morning, the county jail held 103 inmates (95 for felonies and 8 for misdemeanors). In total, the county has 132 inmates at various detention facilities. 98 clients are serviced by the 24/7 sobriety program. Of these, 45 are on Personal Breath Test, 34 are on Secure Continuous Remote Alcohol Monitor bracelet, 11 are on GPS, and eight are on house arrest. Pretrial Services is currently working with 291 clients.
