ABILENE, Texas — Police in Texas say a former Montana county attorney shot and wounded her husband.
The Abilene Reporter News reports 47-year-old Jessica Cole-Hodgkinson faces an aggravated assault charge. She is jailed on a $50,000 bond after the shooting Sunday in Abilene.
Police say the man arrived home to discover he was locked out by his wife. He gained entry and found her in a bathroom armed with a handgun.
Police say Cole-Hodgkinson fired several times and struck the man in the abdomen and the shoulder. He was taken to a hospital, where his condition was not immediately clear.
Cole-Hodgkinson resigned as county attorney in Montana's Hill County in July amid allegations she was unprepared to prosecute cases.
She was convicted of contempt of court charges for missing three court hearings in June.

I had the displeasure to "work" with this incompetent, lazy slob while she was at Hill County. She should have never been hired in the first place! She did a poor job for Lake County, and came to Hill County on the recommendation of departing CA Gina Dahl. Jessica was a disaster from Day 1. I served as Hill County's Personnel Clerk, doing the job duties of an HR Director, and she didn't want to do her job, violated a couple of Montana employment laws, and didn't care who she hurt just so long as she got her paycheck and benefits! She was sure up here as fast as she could go to sign up for payroll and bennies, but didn't show up much for 3 months after she was APPOINTED (not elected, big difference!) and did little to earn her keep. She hurt families, businesses, and the people of Hill County. I finally quit after 15 years of dedicated service with an impeccable and spotless employment record because of her...I KNEW she would land Hill Co. in a lawsuit (she did). She was later convicted on 3 counts of contempt of court for not showing up for trials, etc...because of her "sick dog" and "sick mother in Oregon". Well, now I see she's down in Texas, so much for her "sick mother" she was taking care of! While I was at Hill Co., I tried to get the Office of Disciplinary Counsel to do something about her, and the Attorney General's office (whose duty it is to oversee County Attorneys and discipline them, according to the AG's website), but BOTH refused! See what you were protecting? And it's no self-defense thing, either-there is a neighbor that said he was cheating on her and that she overheard Jessica yelling "you tell lie after lie" and then gunshots. That's not self-defense, that's something that has been though out! And the irony of her getting miffed over lies, considering the whoppers she told up here in Hill Co!
