A Big Horn County man has been accused of beating and killing a 4-year-old girl.
Bridger Franklin Boyd, 34, was charged Tuesday in Big Horn County District Court with deliberate homicide and aggravated assault after the girl died Monday, according to a press release from the Big Horn County Attorney's Office.
Boyd was arrested Tuesday in Billings by members of the U.S. Marshal's Violent Offender Task Force. He is being held in the Yellowstone County Detention Facility Tuesday on a $1 million bond.
Boyd and his wife brought the girl, who was unresponsive, to Big Horn County Memorial Hospital Monday morning.
After notification from hospital staff, an investigation "into a suspected major assault" was opened by the Big Horn County Sheriff's Office and Child Protective Services, according to the release.
The press release references charging documents alleging Boyd "admitted to Big Horn County Undersheriff Michael Fuss to slamming the child's head against the wall and striking her with his fists while she was on the floor several days earlier" at their residence near Busby.
Boyd and his wife had several foster children in their care. All of the children have been removed from the household and placed in "secure alternatives," according to the release.
"The precise circumstances leading to the tragic death of this young girl remain under investigation by the County Sheriff, the State Medical Examiner and the Department of Public Health and Human Services," Big Horn County Attorney Jay Harris said, according to the press release.
