Authorities suspect a registered violent offender who escaped from the Jefferson County jail last week stole a Montana Department of Transportation truck in Dillon Wednesday night or Thursday morning and may have headed north.
Beaverhead County Sheriff Paul Craft also said Thursday morning that 27-year-old Tory Vincent Gee of Sheridan could have an accomplice and they might be together.
”It’s just speculation but being able to avoid law enforcement like he has, I suspect he is working with someone,” Craft said.
Police believe Gee stole a pickup truck in Boulder after escaping from the Jefferson County jail last Friday, then stole another pickup from the Twin Bridges area Monday night or Tuesday and abandoned it in Dillon.
Craft said a Montana Department of Transportation service truck was taken from a vehicle yard in Dillon between 5:30 p.m. Wednesday and 7 a.m. Thursday and they suspect Gee took it and may have headed north.

The truck is a Maroon Dodge Ram 3500, two-wheel drive and has a high canopy on the backside like a UPS vehicle. It has state vehicle plates with the number H-09248.
“We are going to follow up on some leads this morning,” Craft said.
Gee is a white male with a shaved head and face. He is 6 feet tall and weighs 190 pounds with a medium build.
Gee was arrested on Aug. 17 on a $50,000 warrant out of Madison County on suspicion of assault with a weapon. He also faces a bail revocation out of Beaverhead County.
Gee is currently on probation and has previous convictions for assault with a weapon and burglary out of Beaverhead County. He is registered as a violent offender by the state of Montana.
