There was a problem reporting this.
The article is slightly misleading. It says that the EPA has not set a limit for radon in air but instead copped out by saying no level is safe. True, but OSHA has set a limit -- 100 picocuries per liter averaged over a 40 hour work week. Those radon mines have a much lower level of radon than the OSHA limit, and they restrict how many hours a visitor may spend inside.
That's completely apart from the question of whether there is any medical benefit. There may or may not be a benefit in some ailments. There probably is no benefit for other ailments. But it's pretty harmless in any case. If people are being exposed to a much lower level of radon than OSHA allows for uranium miners, we shouldn't worry too much about it.
With so many important issues to cover, why would the IR waste so much space on a nonsensical article like this?
For example, here's a story the IR is not covering. People are being evicted from their homes while, in Montana, a mere 10% of the federal Covid relief money that was allocated for Emergency Rental Assistance to assist renters and landlords has been distributed. This is typical of Republican-controlled states.
From the AP: In reference to the Delta Variant, July 30-
The outbreak in Provincetown — a seaside tourist spot on Cape Cod in the county with Massachusetts’ highest vaccination rate — has so far included more than 900 cases. About three-quarters of them were people who were fully vaccinated.
What short memory we have- Remember when the respiratory droplets could enter your body through your eyes and contaminate you? Reading the CDC website and their diplomatic remarks, " Although how the transmission of the Covid virus has shifted" the vaccine still helps prevent the spread.
Did wee expect them to say the vaccine is useless?
John, I doubt you have any idea what the word "novel" means? We are experiencing a "novel" Coronavirus, which means that it is new, it continues to evolve, medical experts are continually learning more about it and need to change guidelines accordingly.
Johnny ringworm, Florida and their record breaking 21K new daily cases (almost all Delta) are calling auto ask what jolly do you get off spreading lies and misinformation about covid as you do about everything else? Is it pretending you are smarter than actual smart people? Or just a desire to lie about stuff and enjoying the suffering of others?
"Insisting on your rights without acknowledging your responsibilities isn't freedom, it's adolescence."
Barnstable County may have the state's highest vaccination, but Provincetown is a tourist destination. That suggests the source of the spread could be outsiders.
Instead of pilgrimages to radon mines, maybe these people could use Trump's idea, and inject bleach. WTF?
Do these guys own stock in Lee Newspapers or something? What's with the free advertising?
Let's just plainly say that this problem would be nearly eliminated if every eligible person was vaccinated for Covid. We have more than ample supplies of vaccine, free and readily available to anyone who wants it, so there is no valid reason for not being vaccinated..
Finally, some red state governors have "seen the light" and are encouraging vaccine hesitant people in their states to get the Covid vaccine, and some are also promoting mask use. Better late than never, but we need to remember at the next election who is responsible for this new, and totally preventable surge of Coronavirus that may well shut the country down again.
I am an ex-Republican, and there are times it pains me to vote Democrat, but in today's political climate I have no doubt which is the better choice for the future of our country.
Bob, trying to convince people not to sit in a radioactive cave is about the same as telling them not to drink bleach.
Many of the anti vaxxers say that they will not get the COVID vaccine because it not FDA approved and they are concerned about its safety. But I bet a good chunk of those folks would consider the radon mines. Pretty sure the radon mines have not gotten FDA approval… perhaps next we’ll hear that smoking and vaping kill coronavirus. It’s amazing how much snake oil is still being sold.
From the American Rescue Plan of Biden. He was going to hire 100K medical workers to administer the vaccine? Psst... No one wants to work unless you pay them 100K.
Can the Dems tell us when we should expect his "plan B"? You know the one, going door to door? Since half the country refuses the shot, and millions the second shot, Imagine the per-diem rate, mileage, etc. Break out another Trillion. Hey, this virus is survivable. Whats the rate? 99.45
Yeah, John, only about 660,000 Americans have died----- more than in WWI, WWII, the Korean War, the Vietnam War, the Iraq War, and our excursion in Afghanistan.
THAT, my friend, is what the virus can do. Imagine how many more there would have been without vaccines and mask mandates.
Typical righty passing the blame by the ringworm...he and his side spend a year following and repeating lies and misinformation and venting their spleens about fakery about their FREEDUMBS even as they ignore everyones else's freedoms not to be infected by rubes and anti-science losers. he backs the loser in chief who called this a hoax, deliberately de-prepared his administration for this kind of medical emergency, botched every part of the response, even got the pandemic and presumably only survived by million dollar treatments ringworm would never get...and now these clowns celebrate their stupidity of not vaccinating even while they know it's their own stupid folks suffering and dying...and it's still everybody else's fault.
This is republican in their nutshell...on every issue. The largest bunch of babies and victims, always shaking a stick in every ones face even while they can't even make out whether they are gloating or whining.
Freedom said “! hope someday when you become ill …”
How Christian of you.
BTW, I am a cancer survivor and my cure had nothing to do with the woo-woo nonsense you believe in.
I don’t delete comments. That’s the purview of Amen Odor AKA Dan Moore.
People believe some pretty weird stuff when it comes to healthcare issues. After all, look at all the fake medical providers around us: chiropractors, naturopaths, Reikians, homeopaths, acupuncturists, etc.
