Matt Elsaesser has worked hard as a Helena City Commissioner on making sure the budget is balanced and that taxes stay low. He will bring that strong work ethic to the Lewis and Clark County Commission.
But in addition to budget and good government issues there is another reason to support Matt Elsaesser. He has been a strong advocate for bicycle and pedestrian safety during his term as a city commission. I have seen the effective and committed effort he put into overcoming all of the challenges related to getting our children out of the borrow pits along Country Club and Joslyn avenues by establishing partnerships between the County, city, landowners and various businesses. He also followed through on right of way acquisition that put four critical parcels of former railroad right of way into public use. The benefits of course being opportunities for recreation for all ages, including an aging population, and a connection ultimately expanded to provide a safe ride to work for those at Fort Harrison and the VA or to families for a safe pathway from Centennial Park to Spring Meadow State Park and downtown or to Prickly Pear creek.
It is absolutely critical that we have an advocate and champion of these efforts along with a willingness to work with all parties to advance a project for the benefit of all of the public – urban and rural.
I am voting for Matt Elsaesser for County Commission and I urge you to join me.
