With the very disappointing behavior of one of our top officials in the past week, and the even more disturbing letters to the editor defending these actions as justified, it was very refreshing to read Troy Shockley’s article in Wednesday’s sports section. The commentary highlighted the sportsmanship, character, and values of two local high school students, Kory Broussard and Zander Mozer, who competed in the state track meet. Both competed within a hair’s breadth of reaching their ultimate goal, and both exhibited grace, honesty and character when faced with the results. These are the examples and values I would like my own children to model. Hats off to these two amazing athletes, their coaches, teachers, and parents for a job well done.
