An immediate evacuation notice has been issued for six neighborhoods in Libby.
The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office asked all residents of Lower Granite Lake Road, Granite Creek Road, Willow Road, Prospect Creek Road, Winchester Drive and Granite Lake Road leave their homes by 1 p.m. Saturday.
A precautionary pre-evacuation notice was also issued for all residents and businesses located on the west side of Highway 2 from Pearl Street near Atkins South Gas Station, south to and including Bear Creek Road, and also including the Woodland Heights subdivision off of Snowshoe Road.
The Klatawa Fire in the Granite Creek drainage showed aggressive movement over Friday night. The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office consulted with the Goat Rock Complex Rocky Mountain Incident Management Team fighting the fire before issuing the evacuation notices.
CodeRED telephone notification has begun and Sheriff Roby Bowe and deputies are distributing individual notices to 41 addresses in the area, according to the sheriff's office.
The Red Cross has set up a shelter at the Assembly of God Church, located at 105 Collins Avenue in Libby.
