A “pop-up” traffic circle on the way to the Beattie Street Trailhead will show up in March.

A joint project between Bike Walk Montana, neighborhood volunteers and the Western Transportation Institute, the pop-up traffic circle is intended to slow down drivers on Beattie Street. The pop-up traffic circle will be made of cones and other easily removable materials and will remain in the intersection of S. Beattie Street and State Street for an unspecified amount of time.

The "traffic calming project," a private venture, was approved by the Helena City engineering department and is intended to draw feedback from the community through an online survey posted here. The intent, according to a handout provided by Bike Walk Montana, will be providing enough information to probe “permanent traffic calming” solutions.

Bike Walk Montana will hold a community build day at 10 a.m. March 1 to put together the pop-up traffic circle.
