The Sweetheart Passion Plunge has changed location, according to a press release from the Lewis and Clark County Sheriff's Office.
The new time and location will be 1 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 9, at the Robert Allen Nissan on 3135 Prospect Ave.
Registration begins at noon while the polar plunging will start at 1 p.m., an hour later than originally scheduled.
The Sweetheart Passion Plunge is a fundraiser for Special Olympics Montana. Generally held at Spring Meadow State Park, dangerous windchills and a brutal weather forecast caused the change.
Lewis and Clark County detective and search and rescue liaison Greg Holmlund said the plunge would be in the tanks the plungers would typically use to warm up in after they got out of Spring Meadow.
"They're like water troughs for livestock," Holmlund said, and placed inside the dealership.
With the windchills dipping under minus 50 degrees Fahrenheit on Saturday, Holmlund wants to avoid putting anyone at risk.
"I don't even let my divers go in when it's that cold," Holmlund said.
The theme this year is "Hawaiian," and awards will be given to the best dressed teams in the theme still.
