Christina Siemenski, a Helena High science teacher, right, is surprised by Lisa Cordingley, executive director of the Helena Education Foundation, Wednesday as a recipient of the "Let's Talk About Great Teachers" award.

The Helena Education Foundation surprised seven educators Tuesday as "Let's Talk About Great Teachers" honorees.

"Greats schools are everyone's business," said Lisa Cordingley, executive director of the Helena Education Foundation. "So it is important to us to let everyone celebrate the hard work these teachers do."

Working with administration, teaching staff and parents, HEF selects educators who exhibit extra effort and go above and beyond an educators call of duty.

Among the list of educators to receive the recognition Tuesday:

  • Sarah Stankowiak- Four Georgian Elementary
  • Manny Garza- Helena High
  • Sam Leonard- Access to Success
  • Maureen Hunthausen- Helena Middle
  • Christina Siemenski- Capital High
  • Sarah Urban- Capital High
  • Ashley Fish- Jim Darcy Elementary

Recipients will be recognized at Great Conversations, the annual dinner hosted by HEF to foster conversations with community members about pre-planned themes. This year's event is scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 14, at the Great Northern Conference Center.
