Garnette passed away peacefully at home with her husband of 59 years by her side.
Garnette was born in Helena Montana to Garnet and Ovila "Frenchy" Lupien. She graduated from Cathedral High School in 1949. In 1959, while working for the Glen Martin Company, in Denver Colorado. She met and married her husband Charles Van Valkenburg in 1959, an engineer who also worked at Glen Martin.
After several moves around the country, two children were born in West Palm Beach Florida, and two children born in Seattle Washington. Garnette was very involved with her parish as well as many catholic charities and organizations. Garnette was an avid reader and loved playing bingo. She also devoted much of her time to loving her grand children and great-grand children as they gave her great joy.
Garnette is survived by her loving husband Charles, her four children; Diane, Charles Jr., Deborah and Donna, her sister Diana Chenkovich and six grand children and two great grand children.
A viewing and reception will be on Tuesday at 1:00 at Anderson Stevenson Wilke Funeral Home followed by a grave side service at Ressurection Cemetery at 3:00.
